Jennie Wright
Lead generation and online summit queen, the host of the Aquire podcast
Jennie Wright [00:00:02]:
Hey everybody. This is Jenny Wright and this is the Acquire Podcast brought to you by the The Phonic Podcast Network. This is the podcast that delves deep into the world of list building and online events and is designed to empower entrepreneurs and marketer with the knowledge and strategies to master these essential business growth tactics. We’re gonna have a good time today. We’re actually talking to Mark Savant. Mark is going to revolutionize everything you think about with podcasting in terms of AI, automation, and human driven power as well. He helps podcasters implement cutting edge technology in their workflows and saves them a massive amount of time. I’m really on board with that, by the way.
Jennie Wright [00:00:38]:
He’s also the founder of the podcast production agency, Mark Saval Media, host of the after hours entrepreneur, and leader of the after hours entrepreneur mastermind. And I was just a guest on your podcast, so I’m really excited that we get to have this conversation as well.
Mark Savant [00:00:52]:
Yeah. It’s like part 2.
Jennie Wright [00:00:54]:
It is. It is. I’m glad you’re here. So when we were just talking we just, you know, for transparency we were just doing your Now everybody who’s listening already knows chatJpt. They’re probably using more than 1 AI technology. How can people ramp up their podcasting, ramp up their production, get more listeners, you know, save a ton of time, all that kind of stuff with with AI for their podcast if they’re not already doing it.
Mark Savant [00:01:29]:
Oh my goodness. Jenny, there’s so many ways to leverage AI when it comes to content creation and production. And to your point, I Jason. If you’re using Chat GPT for 10 minutes a day, you’re, like, in the top 99%. Like, you’re The top one percent of users if you’re using it for 10 minutes a day. So if you’re using ChatchipBT for 10 minutes a day, consider yourself, like, career career proof. You’re not gonna be obsolete. My prediction.
Mark Savant [00:01:54]:
Which which does make me nervous, by the way, when I start looking at the The. Because you look at, Walmart, they wanna automate 63% of their stores within the 2 years. The World Economic Forum, they predict 80,000,000 jobs displaced over the next 12 months. Largest consulting group in the world, McKinsey, is predicting, 30% of the global population displaced over the next 7 years. Like, we’re talking this is a big deal. This is not like NFTs 2 point o. Right?
Jennie Wright [00:02:23]:
No. It is a big deal, but it’s exactly what happened during the industrial revolution. Right? We switched from non mechanized to mechanized and there was a redistribution of labor. Not that the Industrial Revolution was like super awesome for workers but a lot has changed. So people are going to be displaced obviously they’re going to have to learn new skills but I’ve always thought with AI that the pendulum, and this happened with NFTs and you know Bitcoin, the pendulum always swings super far to one side and then it kind of levels back out Wright? So everybody’s like I don’t need a copywriter Jennie, I’ve got ChatJPT and then they realize oh crap ChatJPT is never going to sound exactly how I want it. I’m always gonna have to have some human element to fix it up. So do you believe that? Do you think the pendulum’s gonna swing back to maybe not Jennie, but a little bit closer too?
Mark Savant [00:03:16]:
I I I think so. Because to your point, Jenny, at least right now in February 2024, when you read fully AI generated content, it’s too mechanical. It doesn’t have, like it’s hard to to to hard to quantify, but it doesn’t have that soul. It you can tell, generally speaking, that it’s Jason, which which, by the way, there’s a ton of stuff that you’ve read, listened to, and watched that probably is completely AI driven at this point. You you we don’t even know it. You get a call from a telemarketer on your phone saying, hey, mister Sivan, I wanna sell you a house, probably AI. Okay? So, I think it is strong enough. I mean, as far as exactly what happens in the future, we will see, but I’m more on along the lines of AI is is is different because it Okay.
Mark Savant [00:04:04]:
It just increases efficiency so much. We’re not talking about the horse and buggy. We’re talking about, writing, x-ray review. I, you know, I broke 3 ribs in Colorado, and they brought me down to the, to the emergency room. They took some x rays. They outsourced it. They sent it out to a third party to review it. They’re just using AI to review the cracks, then a radiologist goes in and says, okay.
Mark Savant [00:04:28]:
Yep. Those are cracks. Sends it over to the doctor, which, by the way
Jennie Wright [00:04:32]:
Wow.
Mark Savant [00:04:33]:
AI is 50% more effective at reading x rays and MRIs than humans are. 50%.
Jennie Wright [00:04:40]:
I did not know that. I know they’ve been using it to read, the printouts from, like stress tests for heart you know, for cardiology and things like that so that they could read, like, you know, the waves of your heartbeat and things. I didn’t know they were using it to read X rays.
Mark Savant [00:04:56]:
Yeah. Oh, yeah. X rays, MRIs. It’s it’s, mortgages. I had I was talking to someone at my local chamber recently, and they’re using AI to almost instantly improve mortgages. They’re approving they’re basically approving mortgages in 15 minutes using AI. Legal field is can being completely transformed by AI. Education is being completely transformed.
Mark Savant [00:05:21]:
The information that we receive. I I don’t wanna go too far down that rabbit hole. But one thing that I do think is is really important to pay attention to, Jenny Mhmm. Is, you know, there there’s not The AI. There’s different language models being built right now. Right? You’ve got the OpenAI, Chat GPT. Google just released Gemini.
Jennie Wright [00:05:39]:
Mhmm.
Mark Savant [00:05:40]:
There’s the llama. There’s a bunch of different AIs. But I think what’s probably probably gonna be most important when it comes to AI is which language models are leveraging the best information, are using the best inputs, and giving the best output? What what’s, you know, what’s giving truth? I know that sounds obvious.
Jennie Wright [00:06:02]:
It is, but it but it makes sense.
Mark Savant [00:06:04]:
Well, the re and the reason I bring that up is because Google Gemini just had a huge flop this last week. If you were if you were to put in, like, it it refused to give you an image of a white person. It would only give you diverse, ethnic, inclusive images. They had to actually they actually completely pulled back the entire image generator because it was generating images of black Nazis. It was just insanity. And so the the and this is what I mean when I say the the algorithms, the input all have to be great in order to get a great result. Because if I’m writing a term paper or if I’m writing a a a post for, I don’t know, a newspaper or something, if I’m getting bad information, I’m only gonna produce bad information. So, I think, you know, as humans learning how to filter in the information that we’re getting, learning which platforms are better than others, I think these are gonna be important for success here, whether it’s podcasting, list building, etcetera etcetera.
Jennie Wright [00:07:05]:
Totally. I I there’s a lot going on and I don’t think I still believe that whatever happens there will always be some sort of human component at least for oversight and and review at some level. And, I think it’s really cool though you can get your x rays, like, reviewed by AI. That would be cool. Bringing it back around sort of to podcasting, what are you telling people, what are you recommending to people so that they get some of that time back? Because honestly producing a podcast is really time consuming. You know show notes, loading it up, writing out the show notes, so on and so forth and getting all that done. Now I’m I’m super fortunate to be using a piece of software that I use for my podcast called Capt Show. Mhmm.
Jennie Wright [00:07:51]:
And Capt Show is great because it pops out the title of the podcast or suggestions, it pops out, you know, content, and it pops out emails and all sorts of kind of, you know, really great stuff, YouTube descriptions, all of that kind of stuff. But what are you telling people to use, do that’s gonna bring back their time?
Mark Savant [00:08:06]:
Sure. So CAPTCHA is a great program. I know Bona and Deidra, the the founders over there. And so I’m gonna give you a few different ideas. So one of the the cool tools that I really like is Chat GPT. Probably heard of it. Pretty popular. We’ve already talked about it.
Mark Savant [00:08:22]:
So, but what a lot of people don’t understand with ChatGPT is you can actually automate it. You don’t have to physically go into Chat GPT and type in a prompt to get a response. You can actually automate The. And I’ll give you an example. Let’s say you’re inviting a guest to come on your podcast, for example. Right? And you send them your calendar form for them to fill out. Well, what you can do is you can use Zapier to send all the answers from that calendar form. You could use Zapier to send that over to chat gpt, and chat gpt can actually do a lot of your preparation for you.
Mark Savant [00:08:55]:
So, for example, it can lay out a format of potential questions to ask, bio, intro, and you can you know, maybe it’s emails. So you can start to automate all those responses that you get from that calendar. And this this actually expands outside of just the podcasting world. Right? Because is if as long as I can have someone fill out a form, as long as I can have someone fill out a calendar questionnaire, something like that, I can use chat gpt to create custom, automated responses information based on those queries. And so it it opens up a lot of possibilities.
Jennie Wright [00:09:32]:
I didn’t know The, and now I want to do that.
Mark Savant [00:09:36]:
It’s pretty awesome.
Jennie Wright [00:09:37]:
Yeah. Wiehler, I’m just thinking all the time that it says because I do take the time to obviously have my intro, you know, I read the person’s bio. I’m always gonna read the person’s bio, and and kind of create that content, but I like the idea of at least having that created for me to review and it’s like a step that’s just automated and done. I love automation. The more things I Amazing. The more things I can automate The better. So I’d be I’d like, I’m gonna reboot up my Zapier account. I turned that thing off for a while.
Jennie Wright [00:10:07]:
I might just pop that puppy up again.
Mark Savant [00:10:09]:
Yeah. OpenAI in, another program, Cast Magic, which is another AI program.
Jennie Wright [00:10:14]:
Yep. I use Cast Magic.
Mark Savant [00:10:16]:
Yeah. They they have now, implemented their a API with, with Zapier as Wiehler. So you can automate with CastMagic, which is pretty slick Wiehler stuff. I’m actually this Thursday, I’m starting a seminar. I’m doing a a a workshop.
Jennie Wright [00:10:29]:
Mhmm.
Mark Savant [00:10:30]:
We actually talked about events and workshops. This is a 4 week workshop. Probably should have been 4 days, but, you know, I didn’t you didn’t have the conversation
Jennie Wright [00:10:36]:
with him. You didn’t tell me about it, or I could have told you some advice.
Mark Savant [00:10:39]:
I I did. But, I will be doing a workshop, and we’re just gonna be exploring all sorts of different things. Like, how can I I’ll give you an example? After I finish recording a podcast or after one of clients finishes recording a podcast, I have them fill out a Google form. Okay. Takes about 2 minutes. Right? They record. They fill a 2 minute Google form. And then based on the answers that are put in that form, it sets off a series of automations.
Mark Savant [00:11:02]:
Right? So it can set off potential titles of the episode, emails, blog articles. It could do all that stuff automatically. Right? But a couple of things I’m trying to work on is, well, how do I automatically send custom responses, to an email RSS feed? So it it looks good, but it will automatically email all of my all of my followers a reminder. Hey. This podcast episode went live. Right?
Jennie Wright [00:11:28]:
Is that a thing? Really?
Mark Savant [00:11:30]:
I’m I it is a thing. It I can, technically, I can do it right now, but it’s just it’s too mechanical for me, Jennie, right now. So I need you know, if you bring me back in a month, I’ll probably have it figured out. But, you know, how do I automate those responses into an email? How do how do I, automate those responses into a WordPress blog and actually upload it to WordPress so I can save myself those steps? Right? How do I automate different steps in this process? And and that’s where AI and and automation gets exciting.
Jennie Wright [00:12:01]:
Yeah. I’m I mean, it opens up a ton of possibilities because yeah it does as long as I mean The blogs that I was getting through say like I love Cast Magic and I love CapShow. I know Bona and Diarje too. Met them in person in January of 2024. And I love their products and I know that they’re coming out with 2.0 at some point. That’s really exciting. So far the outputs in terms like between Podcast Magic and Captcha and all you know Chat TpT, the the outputs they’re really close. Yeah.
Jennie Wright [00:12:38]:
I I don’t think I would ever hit publish on a blog that I’m not gonna obviously take a look at. I don’t think I’d hit publish on an email or send out an email to my list without at least having a look, but I love the idea of it populating a campaign, an active campaign, getting it all ready for me and everything. Then I can just do that final step.
Mark Savant [00:12:58]:
Well, that’s it. Because that I don’t know about you, but if I sit down at my computer and I have a list of what I need to accomplish and it’s just a blank WordPress screen, I’m like, oh, boy. What?
Jennie Wright [00:13:10]:
Oh, yeah. Yeah. Same. I don’t
Mark Savant [00:13:11]:
even know where to start.
Jennie Wright [00:13:12]:
Yeah. I The it and that’s one of the things that that’s the first thing I use chat JPT for was prompting. Yeah. You know?
Mark Savant [00:13:19]:
Yeah. Yeah.
Jennie Wright [00:13:21]:
And I like it.
Mark Savant [00:13:21]:
Well, The other cool thing you can do is, you know, obviously, now with chat gpts, you can create your own custom GPTs, where you program it based on your own per you create your own personal chatbots. Zapier, Wright you need to pay which users need to pay for, but Zapier just released their own embeddable chatbot. So you can actually create a chatbot, program it, and, embed it in your website or embed it in an email. You know? I didn’t
Jennie Wright [00:13:49]:
know that.
Mark Savant [00:13:50]:
Yeah. So there’s some there’s some pretty cool stuff. You we were talking about list building before. I mean, you know, if you’re saying on The email that has an engaging embedded AI bot in it, well, you might be able to get more information than you would otherwise. So
Jennie Wright [00:14:05]:
Totally.
Mark Savant [00:14:06]:
A lot of different and by the way, this is very dynamic too. Right? Like, this stuff changes daily. So, the the and that’s really a thing that I focus on in the mastermind group that I lead. It’s a thing I focus of, you know, on on the podcast is, like, what the hell is that? We knew what happened last week, but what’s happening this week? So
Jennie Wright [00:14:24]:
I know. I know. And then, you know, I I was actually I just did a I just did a pop an episode about the changes that Yahoo and Google made in terms of like DMARC and stuff with The emails making sure The servers are all good. So that was like The personally affected me and a bunch of my friends. We’re trying to send out campaigns. Didn’t know this was happening and then only realized it was happening when they tried to send it out. And you know they’re like active campaign or whatever was like hey you can’t send an email until you authorize or you know do this or this and that and nobody knew what they were doing. They’re like Jenny and I’m like you know being the tech Jason, the tech friend has its positives but it also has its negatives.
Jennie Wright [00:15:04]:
It’s like, Jenny, I can’t do this. I can’t do that. And I’m, you know, I’m watching TV with my partner or whatever, and I’m like, hold on a second. I gotta go take care of my friend’s email.
Mark Savant [00:15:15]:
We it’s I think that’s an important lesson. We wanna what do you wanna be known for? You know? What do you wanna be because when you’re starting a podcast, that’s really what you people say, oh, I want it to be about The. What do you wanna be known for? Because that is what your podcast is gonna do. It’s gonna elevate what people know you for. So if you don’t wanna be known as, like, I don’t know, the Tiger King, then don’t talk about a don’t have a Tiger’s podcast. If you wanna be known for AI, talk a lot about AI. If you wanna be known for lead gen, talk about you you know? And I know that sounds obvious. It sounds so obvious, but when a lot of people get started with their podcast, they you know? I wanna show about everything for everyone.
Mark Savant [00:15:53]:
And and, you know, what is one thing that you wanna be known for? That is what your podcast should be about.
Jennie Wright [00:15:59]:
A 100%. It’s niching in. My partner is a niche specialist. That’s all they talk about is just getting tighter in your niche market, drilling down until you’re at the absolute base level of who you can speak to and who you can serve. I think a lot of people start off their businesses making the mistake that they can serve all these different people. I know I did it. Sure. And then I went completely niched in and I was like okay I’m The summit girl.
Jennie Wright [00:16:25]:
I am the summit queen. This is all I do. It’s not what I do now necessarily, but I’m like I’m the The this is all I do. And I focused on it for I think 5 years, 4 and a half 5 years. Did 370 plus summits. I know them in and out, I’m now that Jason, Wright? Exactly, like I’m that person you go to if you have a summit question. Now as I got really really good in that space did I branch out? Yes because that happens naturally. Yeah.
Jennie Wright [00:16:48]:
And now I, you know, I have the opportunity of working as a fractional CMO. Didn’t know how it was gonna happen. Right? But let’s like, it leads that way.
Mark Savant [00:16:57]:
I I think that’s a really important point, Jenny, because, you know, I was a lifelong employee. I was in insurance after college. Boring. Hated it. Not fun. I started a podcast because I was looking for something to do, and people ended up paying me to do it because I was producing all these podcasts all the time. I became kinda known as the podcast guy. So I was at a conference this last, January, actually, at Podcast.
Mark Savant [00:17:20]:
I was talking to another agency owner. And this agency owner, we were talking about, well, where do we want our companies to go? Where do we want our agencies to go? And we said, well, what are the the largest podcast agencies in the world? What how much are they making a year? You know, we’re guessing maybe 3,000,000, 5,000,000 annual. Top of the top, like, some of the best of the best. Right?
Jennie Wright [00:17:42]:
Sure.
Mark Savant [00:17:43]:
Like, okay. That’s not you know, 5,000,000. That’s a nice business. That’s top of the top. But if I’m to look at well, what is the largest marketing company in the world making? What are those large fractional marketing officers making? We’re talking 500,000,000.
Jennie Wright [00:18:00]:
Mhmm.
Mark Savant [00:18:00]:
It’s a totally different mountain. And so while I think The, at least personally, while I think it’s really important to to niche down, like you like you mentioned, niche down at first. What do you want people to know you for? And then now I’m at a phase in my life where I’m branching out to, okay. We’re gonna launch. We’re gonna automate your podcast, but we’re also gonna put these marketing initiatives on the back end that are gonna actually drive sales and drive leads and build list. And and, I think it’s important to to keep in mind, not in this because it’s a balance. It’s important to keep in mind not just how niche do I wanna be because I actually wanna talk to the right Wright. But if I go too niche, then I don’t have enough listeners, or I don’t have enough audience.
Mark Savant [00:18:40]:
So finding that right balance is, it’s not always simple, but it is an important feature of having an effective digital campaign.
Jennie Wright [00:18:48]:
Completely agree on everything but one point that you said, and I don’t normally do this on a Podcast, but I actually, like, I love having the discussion where you said that if you niche down too much you won’t have an audience. There are, I mean I have not met a person yet and maybe there is and maybe you know them and you can educate me. I haven’t met somebody yet who’s niche down too far that they don’t have an audience. Like I was on a I I had a guy that I met, he wanted me on his podcast and his podcast is called Makin’ Bacon and it is all about how to use Jason, like actual pork product Jason. And he does, like, recipes and stuff, and it is so niche.
Mark Savant [00:19:25]:
Sure.
Jennie Wright [00:19:25]:
He’s got a huge audience. I would never thought that there was gonna be a podcast called Jason Bacon.
Mark Savant [00:19:31]:
Sure. Well, I know some meat guys, and they could talk meat. Sure. Oh, they talk but in so, like, I think it’s a good point, and I I’m glad that you disagree because disagreement is how we get The best ideas. To caveat that, I I do think, at least in the ideas of a podcast, there needs to be some context in as to actually what you’re trying to do with the podcast. Wright? What is what is my goal? Because if your goal is to, spread your idea over millions of people, you know, that goal is different from, I wanna generate hot leads for my marketing agency. Right? Or I wanna be connected to local leaders so I can have influence in local elections or something. Right? These are so getting clear idea of actually what what what the hell am I doing this podcast for, I think is is an important part in that process.
Mark Savant [00:20:22]:
Because to your point, I just launched a show for a gentleman, a local guy who has a a home health care business, and he basically, his podcast is all about answering questions about how to keep mom and dad safe and how to find the right home care worker and questions to ask. It’s it’s going really good. It’s going
Jennie Wright [00:20:42]:
That seems really niche too.
Mark Savant [00:20:44]:
It is. I agree. It is niche. It is niche. But I think it’s it’s, a, it’s it’s getting a lot of views. It’s getting the shorts are getting a lot of views. But I also think, you know, just looking at not, know, to put my business mind on here. We’ve got a lot of, of baby boomers that are retiring.
Mark Savant [00:21:02]:
They’re getting older. You know, the Jennie xers, the millennials, we’re gonna have to figure out ways to handle them, and and home health care is a natural fit. My my grandmother my grandmother stays with my parents, and, you know, she’s 90. She’s relatively healthy, but still there’s special needs there. So Jennie, he’s he’s really carved out a nice place because there’s the show is called Elder Care Insights. There’s nothing else out there like it, and he’s getting connected to the right people for referrals, local leaders. He’s bringing in clients, getting referral. So it’s anyway, that’s a The I think a good case study and, a way to niche down the right way and and still get a good result.
Jennie Wright [00:21:42]:
I think so too. When it comes to when it comes to niche, if we wanna if we wanna keep this vein, we don’t have to. I wanna kind of circle back a little bit to the AI side of things. What is the what is the one thing besides having your show notes written or using an automation, which blew my mind by the way with Zapier and everything, what other time saving, like, thing can happen with AI that people just don’t know about?
Mark Savant [00:22:11]:
Sure. Well, I mean, something that’s starting to become fairly obvious is editing. You know, for example, we recorded a little while ago on, Riverside, Riverside FM. Right? And Riverside has implemented its own AI editing software into it. So we can actually automatically create clips out of the long form. So if we record a 30 minute episode, it’ll automatically choose, you know, 5 or 6 key moments. K? Mhmm. Which which is cool.
Mark Savant [00:22:38]:
You know? The the issue that I I think I have with the AI video creation, which, a, if you just need something, it’s amazing. It goes super fast. The problem that we’re running into, I think, Jenny, is that there’s so many people creating so many clips across so many platforms that I think it’s raised the bar on what’s expected. You need to have subtitles. You need to have some pattern interrupts. You need to be putting some b roll. You need to be thoughtful about thumbnail. So because of how easy it’s become, it’s it’s making it’s it’s helping people.
Mark Savant [00:23:11]:
They’re putting a little bit of extra time. It’s helping us stand out.
Jennie Wright [00:23:15]:
Absolutely. I I love what you said that about that because putting in the time to make sure that you’re getting the right sort of thing coming out of whatever it is that you’re actually trying to create is so important. I think people don’t spend the time like I’m impressed when I see a really good short. Right? And gone I mean, there are Podcast. I’m not gonna say Gone Are the Days because that’s incorrect, but having those pattern interrupts, having that b roll popped in there, having a little bit more dynamic use of like you know editing camera use and so on and so forth does really create that interest and I think you need it. People are really, I mean The attention spans are so short.
Mark Savant [00:23:59]:
It’s crazy.
Jennie Wright [00:24:00]:
Yeah. It’s nuts. I mean honestly if people have made it this far in the podcast I’d like to pat you on the back because I know attention spans are short. But it’s been like, it’s just an interesting topic. If you were to
Mark Savant [00:24:11]:
I will say I will say, Jenny, just on just to piggyback, The extra effort matters with creating the shorts, but for most business owners, you don’t wanna be video editors. Right? Like, the first time I opened up Adobe Premiere Pro, my my head nearly fell off. I was like, where do I even start? So, you know, I I I think it’s worth looking at how much of this can I use AI to do? Where do I need to hire a virtual assistant? Where do I need an agency? When can I hire my niece? Like, you know, just kind of parsing that stuff out because you need to be online. You need to be creating content online. If you’re not showing up on LinkedIn, you’re not showing up on Facebook, on YouTube, you really don’t exist in The digital world. But you don’t wanna drive yourself nuts trying to create all this content everywhere all at once without the right systems in place because then it, you know, it it just becomes overwhelming.
Jennie Wright [00:25:07]:
Completely. Completely. Alright. So in the moment now Wiehler gonna start wrapping this up because we could keep going. But we’re playing into that audience that obviously, you know, has a half hour of time. So thinking about The, where can people connect with you, find out more about you, and, see how you can possibly help them with their podcast?

It’ll be a completely different discussion in 6 months.
Mark Savant [00:26:32]:
Completely different. Text to video is blowing my mind right now. We’ve we’ve gone from spaghetti fingers to, like, hunt supernatural looking amazing pea it’s yeah. The next the next 8 months, 6 months is gonna get weird. It’s gonna get weird, and I’m here for it. I’m here for it.
Jennie Wright [00:26:51]:

Mark Savant [00:26:53]:
Oh, the blinking hair? The movement of hair? A a lighting?
Jennie Wright [00:26:57]:
Yep.
Mark Savant [00:26:58]:
Wiehler.
Jennie Wright [00:26:59]:
Yeah.
Mark Savant [00:26:59]:
It’s unbelievable.
Jennie Wright [00:27:00]:
It’s It’s nuts.
Mark Savant [00:27:02]:
It’s it’s it’s so shock. I like you said, like, I’m the guy at Thanksgiving that nobody everyone’s like, just don’t talk about AI with Mark because I will go off. I will go off. It’s so fascinating.
Jennie Wright [00:27:12]:
