Jennie Wright
Lead generation and online summit queen, the host of the Aquire podcast
Jennie Wright [00:00:04]:
Hey, everybody. Welcome back to the Acquire podcast. I’m your host, Jenny Wright. Oh my gosh. Okay. This is gonna be a update slash rant slash all the things episode. And one of the things that I really want to share with you is we’re gonna dive into sort of the results on a higher level with the high impact revenue marketing giveaway, which is a bundle that I just hosted. It closed on July 30th at the time that I’m recording.
Jennie Wright [00:00:31]:
This is August 4th. And I’m excited because this was my first bundle, the one like the first bundle that I’ve ever hosted and what an experience it’s been now. If you know me, you know, that I have produced over 400 events. So a bundle easy peasy, right? Yes. And. So, a lot of things to share. I’m really excited. But before we get into that, I really want to let you guys know about something that, man, it’s been it’s been sort of like in my brain.
Jennie Wright [00:01:03]:
And it has to do with sort of where the marketing space is going right now. And what I’m finding and what I think that everybody should be kind of aware of is marketing is really cyclical, especially online. And so you have what worked 5 years ago doesn’t work 2 years ago. What worked 5 minutes ago seems to not work today. And then it comes back. And so we’re seeing this resurgence right now of some really low level marketing techniques. People trying to pedal the get rich quick stuff. And I really want to warn you that if you are brand spanking new, you’re not alone if you fall for this.
Jennie Wright [00:01:44]:
I fell for it over 12 years ago, and I don’t want this to happen to you. So if it sounds too good to be true, as the adage says it is, really keep an eye out for the, you know, get rich quick stuff. And I will tell you as somebody who just hosted their own bundle and had applications for it, I saw this coming in. I mean, we ended up with 56 contributors to this bundle. We had over 75 applications. And had I had the window of applications open longer, which I will do for my next one, I probably would have seen more. But I started seeing some things. And I’m gonna talk about those today, but I wanted to give you this, like, sort of Jenny warning that, you know, I’m seeing a resurgence and and it troubles me.
Jennie Wright [00:02:33]:
So keep an eye out. Be really diligent. Be really super careful with what you’re spending your money on, who you’re trusting. And if somebody says that, you know, they stayed at a Holiday Inn last night, therefore their brain surgeon really questioned that in the digital marketing space because a lot of people are doing it. Again, I’ve had this happen to me, years ago, I actually, produced a summit for a client and that client just raved about me. Great stuff. Like, I’m so awesome. How wonderful am I? Blah blah blah.
Jennie Wright [00:03:06]:
Blah. And when the summit was over, this person went and took all of my IP, all of my templates, everything that I had created and turned it in to a how to build a summit course. And what they said online was I just hosted my own summit. Incredibly successful. Over 2,000 registrants. Made over $15,000 blah blah blah. What they neglected to say is that they had never done before. They had no idea how to do it and they were using all of my templates and I was coaching them on how to to do it.
Jennie Wright [00:03:41]:
So they had a successful summit and now they wanted to teach it also with stealing my stuff. And not to say that everybody steals stuff because they don’t. But if somebody says that they’ve just done the thing, and now they want to teach you how to do the thing after only doing it once, Be cautious. It doesn’t mean that they can’t. They probably could. Just be really cautious. And so with that, let’s move on to what is amazing about these bundles and I’ll tell you what worked for me. So first off, if you want to get leads into your email list, quality leads into your email list, then bundles are a fantastic way to do it.
Jennie Wright [00:04:16]:
Just be careful as to which bundles you’re on. Don’t go willy nilly and beyond all of them because that’s not going to serve you. It’s not going to help you. You’re gonna end up with an email list that is too big, not niched in, not your ideal clients, tire kickers galore, all of that. And so I was really intentional about creating this bundle. I really wanted it to be really focused, only the people that I think would, not only add in value, not only to my list, but also to all of my contributors. And so I didn’t wanna have somebody as a contributor that was talking about something that didn’t fit with the rest of the contributors. And I didn’t want 15 contributors in one section and only 2 in another.
Jennie Wright [00:04:59]:
So I really wanted to create balance. And so as me and my team were accepting applications and approving people, we were slotting them into their various slots. Okay. We have like 10 people for lead gen. We’re only gonna accept 5 more. We have 6 people for sales. We really wanna make sure that we get 11 more. So we were really focused and intentional about who we were accepting.
Jennie Wright [00:05:23]:
And as somebody who also is on bundles as a contributor, I know that process as well. So I really want to sort of say that intentionality is huge when it comes to these things. So, I mean, this bundle was incredibly good and the engagement was through the roof. We had a ton of participants who genuinely were excited about content and the resources, the contributors, my contributors that were on here. Feedback has been really overwhelmingly positive. Lots of people have been getting lots of, leads and downloads and accesses to their courses, sales calls, and so on after the after the bundle, which is great. And then the promotional strategy that we had was both a winner and leaves some room for opportunity. And I think that’s always the case.
Jennie Wright [00:06:09]:
Like you can say you have a winning strategy, but then there’s always room for improvement. So we leveraged social media, which is great. We did organic only. I did not spend a dollar on ads and our email marketing, I think was pretty on point, not only for us, but also for our contributors. And then the strategic partnerships that we established were also very, very helpful to get us to reach a wider audience. I was very, again, intentional about the people that I had on and the fact that this was only going to succeed if we all promoted. And so you would see a lot of promotion. I didn’t put a lot of minimums on this.
Jennie Wright [00:06:46]:
I just said, look. What are you willing to do? I’d really appreciate it if you could do the following. I will tell you that an outstanding number of contributors went above and beyond. I had one contributor that I’d like to note, and that was Stephanie Treasure. She did, I think, an Instagram story every single day and a Facebook story every single day. So on Meta, there was like a story all the time. She did a ton of promotion, which was really, really impressive, and I was also very grateful for it. Katie Brinkley did something insanely cool.
Jennie Wright [00:07:18]:
She actually did a completely different style of promo. And that was, she asked a question. She’s like, hey, I just got access to 53 Canva templates. Anybody want them? And that post went nuts. There was over a 100 comments on that post of people saying yes. And then she was dropping the link to the bundle saying I got them in the bundle and a slew of signups came from that. Right. So what a cool strategy, not using the normal, promotional tactics, being out of the box with it, seemingly not promoting, but offering people an opportunity to get something that she got for free and using it that way.
Jennie Wright [00:07:55]:
I thought that was phenomenal. I was praising her up and down because I was just so like ecstatic as how she thinks out of the box. And I mean, considering that I use Katie Brinkley’s 4 post strategy in all of my social media, and I also get my clients to use that strategy. This sort of fell right into it. It was an engagement post, which is in her strategy, and I thought that was just, I mean, blew my mind at the amount of engagement she got for it, which helped her, but also helped us on the bundle. So I was really ecstatic about that. So far, the feedback from attendees has been incredibly positive. We did a survey, we got some really good feedback.
Jennie Wright [00:08:32]:
There were a couple of things as always to improve upon. And a lot of that seems to be in the process. And also some follow-up with our contributors. We did have some coupon issues. We did have some products that all of a sudden became unavailable. So I think in clarity, what I’m going to do is make sure that my contributors know that if the bundle closes on like July 30th, that all the bundle products have to be open for an additional week. And I think, I know I mentioned it, but I just don’t think it was super, super clear. And so a couple of the products, like the doors closed on those products at like, you know, midnight on July 30th and some people just didn’t get them.
Jennie Wright [00:09:10]:
So we had to, reach out to those people, ask them to open it again. And so that our our registrants could still get access, which they did. So that worked. And this is like the day that I’m recording. This is the exact last day that you could access the gifts within the bundle. So that was really good. I really liked that. And then also an area that we kind of had a challenge was coordination with some of the contributors.
Jennie Wright [00:09:34]:
And this is normal. You get this in a summit, you get this in a bundle, you get this with everything, but there was quite a bit of running around. We, I could improve the air table form that we created that asked all the questions to get people onto the bundle. I think I could have created some more clarity so that we didn’t have to chase people for additional coupon information to access products for free. And also I think I could have made the bundle experience in terms of which I guess products or offers could go into each bundle a lot more clear. So there was room for improvement on my side, for sure. I’m already thinking about how to get through that and, and make sure that that’s better. Additionally, clarity and communication.
Jennie Wright [00:10:19]:
I’m always, I mean, I have, I have no ego in this game. Okay. You know, as a human being, I have a sense of like right wrong, wanting to do things well. I do get a little bit of pride when something goes well, but I really have worked on not having any ego when it doesn’t go well. And the reason the reason is is if you have ego when it comes to these opportunities and areas for improvement, it’s going to stop you because it’s gonna be personal. And it’s not personal. Like this whole thing, the whole product, the whole reason was to grow. So if I want to grow, then I really have to take the ego out of it so that I’m able to make those improvements and not be like, well, I didn’t do anything wrong or whatever you want, like insert phrase here.
Jennie Wright [00:11:03]:
Okay? And that’s part of my personal development journey. That should be part of your personal development journey if it isn’t already. Really drop the ego when it comes to looking at how you did things and where you can make those improvements. I I think that would be a huge opportunity for a lot of people. You know, room for growth for me is always gonna be on tech integration. We built the landing page on ClickFunnels and then we had the delivery of the products in ThriveCart. And I will tell you it was clunky AF. I love Thrivecart.
Jennie Wright [00:11:35]:
I love it. And I like ClickFunnels, but the integration between the 2 and the steps I had to create was ridiculous. And that’s not on their side. That’s not their fault. That’s my fault. So you had to go to the landing page on ClickFunnels. You had to register. On the confirmation page, you had an opportunity to upgrade to a VIP product.
Jennie Wright [00:11:56]:
And if you didn’t, then you had to click on a button that took you to a Thrivecart page where you had to re enter your name and email and get sent another email. Then you had to open that email, click on the link and create your account in Thrivecart, which then gave you access to the product. Now, easiest workaround would be create your landing page in Thrivecart. I can hear you all yelling at me, so I get it. I get it. Okay. Landing page on Thrivecart. That would have been like easy peasy.
Jennie Wright [00:12:24]:
Problem with that is, is I don’t like to build in Thrivecart. I don’t like building landing pages in Thrivecart. I don’t think they are high converting personally. And it just might be my way of building. I don’t know. So I’m really looking hard and, you know, just with transparency, I’m really looking at moving my entire business over to go high level and it scares the crap out of me. And I’ll tell you why I am. I’m a true believer that an all in one solution is not a great solution, that none of them do everything amazingly well.
Jennie Wright [00:12:57]:
And I think that is very true. Okay. I look at Kajabi. I do not love Kajabi for summits. I look at, you know, all the other all in one solutions and I have problems with all of them, including GoHighLevel. I will say this, including GoHighLevel. However, GoHighLevel is probably the best out of the bunch. And I did sign up for Funnel Gorgeous, years ago when it first came out.
Jennie Wright [00:13:24]:
And because I was still in my ClickFunnels stage of life, and the owner of Funnel Gorgeous is one of the people that was in ClickFunnels at the time and then left. And I was really about that journey for her That, I just couldn’t get into it. I couldn’t see the benefit, even though it was like the same price. I just couldn’t wrap my head around it at the time. So I didn’t, I actually canceled the account. I regret that now because I have a lot of clients that are in go high level and I build funnels for them and I build automations for them and everything. And I see that go high level is actually doing a really good job. And I’m not getting paid for this by the way, because I don’t even have an active account with them yet.
Jennie Wright [00:14:01]:
I don’t even have an affiliate with them yet. So, but it is a plug because using it for my clients, I have a real estate client in Texas I use it for, I have another client here in Toronto I use it for, and a bunch of others. I see the opportunity and the functionality. So for my fall bundle, I’m looking at moving that over to make this process because it was so clunky to move it all over and make it more simple. And honestly, my, my team would probably thank me because it was such a pain in the butt to set everything up the way we had it. So big learning for me, you know, I’m a tech person, but this is my opportunity. And so when I look at the bundle and I and this is just my quick wrap of it, I I really do think that there’s an opportunity to to make it better. But I know that it was so much fun to do.
Jennie Wright [00:14:46]:
Like, I had a blast, guys. I really, really did. And so if you’re considering ways to add leads to your list, either hosting a bundle or being on a bundle, I’m gonna say be on a bundle first. Get on a bundle. It is super fun to do. So here’s how you can be a better bundle contributor. And if you’re listening to this and you wanna be on my fall bundle, this is this is the list that I want you to think about. Okay? So, timeliness, my gosh, please make sure you submit your content.
Jennie Wright [00:15:15]:
When you say you’re going to submit your content, make sure it’s done well before the deadline. It makes people like me happy. If you run me right up to the deadline to give me your stuff, it’s going to stress me and my team out. So I would love if you give me the peace of mind of actually getting it done earlier. And I speak for all bundle hosts when I say this. Quality content. Really focus on delivering high value and actionable content. We saw some things come through our application form that blew my mind.
Jennie Wright [00:15:43]:
And it’s not a judgment factor on these people. It’s just, they either don’t know what they don’t know, or they think what they created was substantial enough. And you know, I I’ve been around a long enough to to be able to say that it’s probably not. Right? So there’s a quite a few people that just they just didn’t hit the mark and that’s okay. Like I didn’t hit the mark all the time. Let’s just do better next time. Right? Let’s just learn and, and, and improve. And I am happy to show people how to improve and show people what they should be doing so that they have a really successful product.
Jennie Wright [00:16:17]:
Right. And so make sure also that when you’re creating it, the quality of that content, it reflects your brand. It really makes it stand out, that you have all of this stuff that you should have in that product or the offer so that people get something usable and tangible, but also get to know you. Right. And then promotion. I mean, I can’t emphasize promotion enough, actively promoting the bundle is going to make all the difference. I will tell you that people are watching and if you actively promote a bundle, not only does the host see it and will they invite you back to their next bundle? Other people see it too. And they’re actively looking for bundles as well, or people to have on their bundles.
Jennie Wright [00:16:56]:
They will start asking you right. As a result of hosting the high impact revenue marketing giveaway, I have had. To a total of 10 different events, summits, bundles, other speaking opportunities, Right? So this it it creates quite the, I don’t know, like, almost it has its own engine behind it and it starts building. And so if you do it right and you do it with intentionality, the results are gonna be so much better for you. Then also make sure that you’re creating engagement. Engage with your host and engage with your the people who sign up for your offer. Don’t just, like, drop it and disappear. It really matters a lot that the host feels like that’s not transactional.
Jennie Wright [00:17:40]:
And, I can always do better in this space. I always tell my clients to do better in this space, but the people who are on the bundle do better in this space, really. Like, don’t just drop and run, create the relationship. Let’s, let’s connect. Follow me on social media. I can’t even tell you how many contributors, when I was accepting them, I was like, hey, let’s follow follow each other. Like, I just followed you. You want to follow me kind of thing just so we have access to each other and we can support each other.
Jennie Wright [00:18:08]:
And there was quite a few that I was really surprised were not doing it. And then there was this handful of people. They were like, they were just go getters. They were following me. They were commenting, commenting on my stuff. They were reposting my stuff. And so I started doing it with their stuff, which is I think just natural and that worked out super well. And so I think by following these tips and those were 4 of them, you’re, you’re going to be a better contributor to an event like this, but you’re also going to successfully boost your own brand’s credibility and your growth that way.
Jennie Wright [00:18:38]:
And then just to sort of wrap this up, I have to tell you that something that made this bundle easier for me was being able to use my most latest obsession, and I am completely obsessed. If you’ve heard me listen and you’ve heard me talk about this before, I love Capt Show. Capt Show is amazing. I use Capt Show for this podcast religiously. I load all of my podcasts into Capt Show. I get great content back. I use it exclusively. I love it.
Jennie Wright [00:19:05]:
And then also my latest obsession is ECAM for Mac. So huge shout out to ECAM huge shout out to Doc Rock and Katie Fox, who have been just stellar at being supportive, and and just kinda getting me into using ECAMM. I mean, they’re just they’re just there. So big shout out to those guys because they’re amazing. And Ecamm, my gosh, like I’m actually recording this podcast on Ecamm for Mac right now. And so great quality video that I’ll use on YouTube. It’s 4 ks. The audio quality is amazing as well.
Jennie Wright [00:19:39]:
I love the overlays that I can create. If you’re seeing this on video, you can see our podcast logo in the corner, and I can, like, bring that in and shoot that out. I can put all these overlays. I can create scenes. I can do all this kind of stuff and it integrates with zoom so I can have my guests for the podcast come through zoom and then be in Ecamm so I can run things with again, overlays and titles and beautiful things like that. And see, just like all of it. I just adore it. And so really lucky to be able to using this product.
Jennie Wright [00:20:06]:
So, you’re looking to up level your podcast or just your content creation in general, Ecamm for Mac is the way to go. You absolutely won’t regret using it. I just don’t even see how it’s possible. I don’t even know how I could do this now without using it. So go check that out. And there you go. This is, this is a quick down and dirty podcast. I just wanted to give you like an insight into the bundle.
Jennie Wright [00:20:29]:
What makes it great? What you can do, how you can improve, how you can get great leads and all that good stuff. So I hope you like this. I hope that it helps you reflect not only if you want to run a bundle or if you want to be on a bundle, but it helps you see how we can improve this, this sort of space. And then again, as always, the podcast is brought to you by the Aud Phonic Podcast Network. If you’re liking what you hear, please, please check me out, on socials, connect with me and also make sure you follow the show so you don’t miss an episode. And I will see you all soon.
