Lead generation and online summit queen, the host of the Aquire podcast
Jennie Wright [00:00:01]:
Everybody. Welcome back to the Acquire podcast. I’m your host, Jenny Wright, and this is the podcast where I help you grow your list, launch your events, and also help you scale your business. Today’s episode is all about something that is I find really exciting, but geeky, but also super fun. And that is creating a product for a bundle giveaway. Now I love bundle giveaways because there’s such an incredible way to grow your email list and connect with new audiences. But I often get the question, should I use an existing product giveaway part of something I already have, or should I create something brand new just for this giveaway? Well, today we’re going to answer that exact question and I’m going to walk you through the process behind each option and help you decide what works best for your business. And by the end of the episode, you’ll know exactly what kind of product to create for your next bundle.
Jennie Wright [00:00:50]:
And also you’ll have a clear plan to maximize the impact of that product. Does that sound good? So here’s what we’re going to cover. We’re going to decide between re purposed, repurposing or using an existing product or creating something completely brand new. We’re going to talk about the type of product that will make the biggest impact on a bundle giveaway. And we’ll also talk about my best tips for packaging and promoting that product and creating that really great bundle contribution so that it gets noticed. And that’s a really big part. So let’s talk about the first part. And that’s why bundle giveaways are list building gold.
Jennie Wright [00:01:27]:
Let’s dive into the nitty gritty of that. So before we get into that, I want to talk about why bundle giveaways are amazing for list building. And when you participate in a bundle giveaway, you’re really pooling your audience with a bunch of other experts. That means that your product gets in front of 100, potentially, potentially thousands of new people, people who have never heard of you otherwise. So it gets you that exposure that we’re always talking about beyond the audiences that currently know you, see you, or hear of you at all. And here’s the kicker. You can’t just throw any old thing into a bundle and hope that it works. It has to be something that really grabs the attention and gives a ton of value also has to be packaged properly.
Jennie Wright [00:02:09]:
So that’s why it’s essential that you be strategic and make sure this offer works. So let’s answer the big question. What should you offer in a bundle giveaway? What should that look like and how do we make it happen? So yes, you could actually use an existing product. I’ve seen this happen a lot. And if you have a product, this could be a mini course, a guide, a workbook, or even an evergreen webinar that you’ve previously created. I will say that the evergreen webinars do not work as well. Most people who go for bundled products when they’re on a giveaway, don’t want something that they can download that’s tangible. So give them tangible things, templates work amazing.
Jennie Wright [00:02:48]:
So here’s why I love these options because it’s easy. If you already have these things, the work is already done and you’re not scrambling to create something brand new from scratch. And as you know, it, it already resonates because you’ve already tested it with your audience. So you don’t have to worry whether or not it’s going to work. Now a word of caution, you want to make sure that the product that you’re giving away is valuable and relevant to that bundle audience. If it’s too broad or if it doesn’t align with the giveaways theme, it’s not going to get the attention that it deserves. So So if you have an existing product that’s a hit with your audience that fits the bundle theme, then go ahead and use it. Just make sure that it has that irresistible appeal and that you’ve got the right graphics and landing page and all that good stuff to make sure that it really, really pops.
Jennie Wright [00:03:35]:
Now, option number 2 is giving away part of an existing product and you might have an incredible product, something like a full paid, like a full length workshop or a full length course, but you’re not ready to give that away for free. And I don’t blame you. That’s totally okay. A great option is to give away part of that product. For example, if you have a 6 module course, you could offer 1 module as a sneak peek, or if you have a full workbook, you could give away the first section for free, And this gives people a taste of the value that you offer without giving away the whole thing. And what I love about this approach is that it actually creates a lot of curiosity. You’re showing your audience what’s possible, you’re giving them a quick win, and you’re leaving them wanting more. And the trick here is to choose the part of your product that delivers a result quickly so that they can see the value right away and they can see what you actually do.
Jennie Wright [00:04:29]:
And this approach works well, especially if you plan to have an upsell on a full product later. Right. So if you have that trip wire to something bigger, because now they’ve already gotten a taste of the product and they’re most likely, more likely I should say, to convert into paying customers for the full product. And then option 3 here is creating something brand new. And if you’ve been wondering whether you should create something brand new just for the bundle, then this is your part. So listen up, sometimes creating something completely fresh, complete, completely new, is the best way to stand out in a bundle giveaway because people think, you know, we’re not just recycling and they, and they might see that some people have that opinion and I, you know, that’s, that’s okay. I think a new product is super exciting. And when you create something brand new, you get the opportunity to tailor it specifically to that bundle audience.
Jennie Wright [00:05:16]:
So you’re making sure it’s something they specifically want and it’s a chance to really wow them with something they’ve never seen before. They can’t find it on your website. They’ve never seen you offer it before. It feels really exclusive. And I know what you’re thinking, creating something new takes time and yeah, it does. But it doesn’t have to be very complicated. Your product could be something as simple. Well, simple yet really high value, like a checklist, a quick start guide, a short mini course.
Jennie Wright [00:05:43]:
And let me tell you one of the biggest things that you can give on bundles are templates. Oh my gosh. Every time I do a template for a giveaway, like hotcakes. Okay. So I have 2, and I’ll give you an example. I have 2 main bundle products that I’ve used recently, and one of them has templates and lots of like email templates and Google sheet templates and all those wonderful things. And the other one is styled differently. And whenever I offer the template one, oh my gosh, the amount of downloads I’ve had, thousands of downloads, and what it has allowed me to do is actually refine that product over and over and over again, not only for the clients who actually get that product when they work with me, an expanded version, but also for these bundles.
Jennie Wright [00:06:31]:
So I love that and, and you can really test out some good stuff. So how to decide which option is best for you, right? So now that we’ve covered these 3 different options using an existing product, giving away part of a product or creating something completely brand new. How do you decide which one to go with? Here’s a couple of questions that I recommend that you ask yourself. This should help. Do you already have a product that your audience loves? If yes, then this is probably the easiest and most effective option, not only for you, but for your team to just kind of put together and get it done. Is there a part of a current product that you can deliver a quick win with? Can you pull something out and create curiosity and anticipation for the full offer? If you can, this is a great option for you. Or possibly, do you wanna create buzz with something brand new? Are you like really fun and curious about creating something completely different? Do you have like excitement about that? If you can, then make sure it’s, you know, simple, focused, and directly aligned with the bundle theme, then go that way, right? Don’t go overboard and create like a full fledged course because it’s too much, but do something fun and different. The key here is to align your decision, with your overall business goals.
Jennie Wright [00:07:46]:
So if you want to grow your list quickly, the value you need to provide becomes pretty crystal clear in my opinion. If you’re trying to provide or promote actually a larger product or course, then giving away a teaser or a sneak peek also might be the way to go. These are decisions that you have to weigh. I know that I like to create something brand new, but I also know that not everybody does. So that’s up to you. I like creating products, so it depends on actually what you want to do. And then in terms of actually promoting and pro and packaging that product to make it into a bundle, I have to give you sort of like my, my, my secrets here, because I want you to have the most successful bundled products ever. And it starts with a killer title.
Jennie Wright [00:08:29]:
The title of your product makes or breaks because we always go off of the visual and the title. So the title is super important. It should be clear, catchy, outcome focused. Think about what your audience wants and then make it irresistible. Be careful if you’re using chat gpt, because it’s going to use words like unlock or discover, and these are really overused at this point, so, really, you need to do something different. So use ChatGPT, obviously, for research, if you’re comfortable with that, make sure that you actually go over it yourself and find the right language, because stuff that’s sort of born out of Chat GPT and others is really, like, visible now, right? And then second, you have to make it incredibly visually appealing. It should feel, like when you walk into a bookstore and if you’re anything like me, yeah, you’re looking at titles but the book covers are something that pull you in, I mean, you can have the most amazing catchy title but if your book cover is crap people are probably not going to buy the book, so you really want to make sure that it’s appealing if even if it’s just a PDF make sure it’s well designed and on brand and make sure that it looks good and always have one of those, like, bundle product graphics made so that you can give that to the host, the person who’s doing the bundle, and they can make sure that it looks good. Always put it on a transparent background, make sure to use drop shadow, make sure to, like, make it look like it pops, don’t use a really colored background, those look really crazy, you know, make sure it really stands out and just high level as much as you can.
Jennie Wright [00:10:05]:
Okay. So those are the 2 really big things and the third one obviously is the promoting piece, right, so don’t just rely on the bundle, the bundle itself or the bundle host to promote the giveaway, you really have to shoot for the rooftops on this, you really should share it on social media, mention it to your email list, getting people excited will help you get more people to register for it, even if, like, let me let me not backtrack, but sort of add something to this. When you’re on a bundle, your exposure grows, right, so if you’re using the hashtags of the bundle itself on social media and so is everybody else, then you’re going to get more exposure that way, as long as everybody else is doing it too. So, even though your audience might be small at the moment, if you do the right marketing, you’re actually gonna get in front of a bigger audience, so, yes, promoting it on your social media not only makes you look good for the host, but it actually does the right job because you’re you’re getting exposure through using those different hashtags and so on and so forth to get better exposure in SEO and all those wonderful things, so make sure you’re promoting it really enthusiastically to get additional exposure. And I know this hasn’t been the longest episode and it doesn’t have to be because I really wanted this to be focused simply on helping you either decide to create something new or use something you already have. And I really want you to consider which option it’s going to be because bundles are the biggest thing going right now. And this is coming from a summit person, okay, and I love summits and I will always love summits, but I want you to create the perfect product for the next bundle giveaway, and then I want you to get on those giveaways and get as many awesome leads into your ecosystem as possible to sell your programs, products, and services. I am driven for this right now.
Jennie Wright [00:11:49]:
This is like my superiorly, like, this is my super focus this fall to make sure you have everything you need. So let me know what you think. I am super excited about bundles right now, as you can probably tell. I really hope that you’re walking away with some clarity right now and that you’re going to be able to either choose the perfect product or create the next bigger product for these bundle giveaways. And whether you’re using an existing one, giving a part or giving away something that you already have or creating something brand new, just remember, your goal is to provide a ton of value, to build trust, and to grow that email list.
